Today’s Sanskrit word of the day is Agni.
Agni is the Divine Fire and the Light of Meditation. As we head into the darkest days of the year, Agni’s light invites warmth and clarity to our body and mind. As the old proverb says, “She who cuts her own wood, warms herself twice.”
Just as a community gathers around a fire to sing songs, tell stories, cook their food and warm their hearts, a well-tended fire produces thoughtful and efficient action that benefits everyone.
Please feel free to read (and chant if you’re into sanskrit) the Hymn to the Divine Fire (also known as the Agni Stotram) with this spirit in mind. And may we all take refuge in the radiance of the Divine Fire that shines in everything and everyone that we encounter!
